Fred,
Unfortunately for N&W modelers, the freight equipment was mostly designed by
N&W and built by outside contractors, i.e. Greenville, or at Roanoke Shops.
N&W received 800 USRA single sheathed boxcars during WWI; the war emergency
H-4 triple bay hoppers were supposedly based upon an ACF design, although
none of N&W's version were built by ACF. It is not until the 1950s with the
purchase of PS-1 boxcars and PS-2 covered hoppers that N&W began to acquire
"assembly line" rolling stock.
N&W did not own any of the ARA or AAR boxcar designs.
So there is really nothing, at the moment, that you could use. If I recall
correctly, the B-7a had a radial roof. The BS class went through various
modifications, i.e. BSa and BSb.
You may be able to finds ends available, but for the most part, at this
time, you'd have to scratchbuild the cars.
