Jim - I don't know if the engines operated through Shenandoah, but the power out of Shaffers Crossing was fresh, both on #95 and #51.

Your answer intrigues me because I model the N&W's Shenandoah Valley line and 95 and 51 originated at Hagerstown.
Is it reasonable to assume that those locomotives you observed bringing those trains to Bristole would have departed Hagerstown with the same locomotives? I realize they could have been swapped out at either Shenandoah or Roanoke, but was just curious regarding this issue.
