It seems they did it correctly. Mine arrived today and has the proper
crosshead guide. There are also pictures on their website.

I just wanted to know if BLI did the single guides with a
counterweights. They didn't show a production so I was wondering if
600 was correct. Thanks again Ed and Ed for your help!

Stephen - Ed -

The 600 had multiple-bearing crossheads and guides, which appear
as a single crosshead guide above the piston rod. These were
Timken-designed crossheads and had a counterweight hanging down below
the crosshead. Everything 605 and up had Alligator crossheads, which
were larger and operated between an upper and lower guide. These were
like those of the 611 and 1218, if it's any help.

Stephen,

I see no real differences when looking at BWL 600 and
613. (I may be getting blind with age.) Provide me with a good visual
description of what I'm specifically looking for please? I'll give it a
second try. On the other hand, I noticed the cab window red on 600 is a
much brighter red than on the 612 and the window frames on the back of
the cab on 600 aren't painted. (the browner red on 613 is more correct
than the bright red on 613). The bell is on top of the boiler on 600 as
it should be.

Does the N&W J #600 model have the counter
weight on the front? Please reply.

(snip) It's not worth a big debate.
They're all within the variety of shades/tints seen in the old N&W color
pictures! I like my PRR #14 Caboose Red!!!! Pick the color you like
and be happy!

I say:

Amen!
