Wig Wag Crossing Signals

Thanks for all the replies.  The nw235 image is like the ones I remember at the crossings in Bassett.  It seems like there was a bell also that sounded each time the arm swung from side to side as the lights flashed.  If they were manufactured, I could use about 10 or 12.  Most of the area in Henry Co. at the time I'm modeling (the early '50s) was rural except Martinsville, Fieldale, and Bassett.  There is one structure, if you cab call it that, that is going to be on it,  Martinsville Speedway!  Thanks again for the replies

This one looks like it has the correct mechanism but it is cantilever mounted instead of a pedistal mount.

The N&W mounted theirs on a pedistal with the arm mounted upwards and a counterweight on the bottom.
Look at this signal that was near Chilhowie.  It is the older style with 2 lights in the background,

These were taken in the late 20's or early 30's before Route 11 was moved up the hill and bridged over the N&W.

I believe these could be kitbashed with the static unit as mentioned earlier by removing it from the cantilever, mounting it on a pedistal, and inverting the arm.  To be correct, it would need the counterweight at the bottom.  However, this would be a nonoperating signal.  I don't know if the operating model can be modified to operate in N&W fashon or not.
As for the brass version, I don't know if that one comes assembled or in a kit.  If it is a kit, then it might be feasible to make it out of brass.

Can anyone tell me where I can find the , I guess, wig wag type crossing signals?  I can find plenty of gate type, but not this type the N&W used.  I have found a couple of pictures on the Virginia Tech library site.  Iam new to the hobby although I have had trains for years and can remember N&W steam from when I was young.  I am attempting to model the Henry County  , VA area (Martinsville, Bassett,etc.).  Any help would be appreciated.
