Thanks for the reference, Jim.  As an operational
question comes to mind by looking at the photo:
wouldn't it be unlikely that both the front and rear
set of drivers along one side would have the side rods
in the same position?  I would have thought the
drivers would be at about a 90- or 180-degree
difference so that when starting or running the
locomotive, at least one of the four cylinders would
be in compression.
