It's a better "good enough" than most of what everyone but a hardcore
scratchbuilder would have, and given the complexity of covered hoppers
scratchbuilding in the quantities needed for realistic trains would be
a serious task. I admire those who build models with high fidelity for
contests showing us what is possible, but for my humbler operational
goals "good enough" is fine.

Jim:
I would buy one, and couple it to my Roundhouse "HC-7's". I would feel
guilty about running something I knew was not strictly correct, but I'd
manage to suppress my guilt. It's a matter of degree, I suppose; I
probably subscribe to the "six foot" rule - if you can't tell the
difference at a distance of six feet, it's good enough. And, I've
already bought worse and almost surely will again in the future.

Kadee has been offering a PS-2 covered hopper in HO scale for
sometime. They used a number of drawings from the Society archives
in its creation. It is very similar to the N&W Class HC-7 except for
a larger side panel where the reporting marks are normally
placed. Given this variance from the actual N&W car, they have not
offered a N&W version. The question is: How do N&W modelers feel
about this car if Kadee was to offer a version stenciled for the N&W?
