Kurt:
A flouescent light in an encluse reduces the UV very little!  Show me a fluorescent lighting fixture whose cover has not turned yellowish over a period of time.  The only way to cut down on UV is to purchase the sleeves.  That why they moke them..  I worked at a placed the required the UV sleeves to prevint damaged to certain material.

There are florescent lights that do not give off harmful UV rays.  There are alos ones that can be dimnmed.  If you use the lights in an enclosure with a cover, that also reduces any UV rays.
