Mercy me! Yet another J in HO scale???? Why on earth can we not get someone to make an M? I just don't get it.

Excellent points on the downside of purchasing MTH HO scale locomotives. However, their rolling stock, as far as I know, can be used on any system, and they are doing the Powhatan Arrow along with the J, both as a set and individual cars. Of course, watch them put in some crazy interior lighting system that shorts out your entire railroad unless you are using their DCS. MTH makes some good looking models, but they have to be one of the most arrogant companies in the hobby.
One of their employees, when asked at a trade show why they don't offer their locomotives with the option of no electronics package, replied that MTH feels their DCS system is vastly superior to anything else on the market, and that in 5 years everyone in HO scale will be using it! And yes, if HO modelers don't switch to his DCS, I can see Mike Wolf and MTH trying to sue us all!
I'll definitely pass on the J because I don't want sound or DCS/DCC installed, and I'll probably pass on the passenger cars because I don't want to support a company with such a bad attitude.

The mth J sounds good, BUT.....
mth models are not user friendly. Examples:
- they do not MU consist easily with other brands, ( you have to set all your locos to their speed control)
- you pay a higher price for functions you cannot use on DC or DC
- you have to buy their DCS to use all the functions
- their locos need to be programmed on the main (per manual)(so you would have to isolate the locomotive)
- you pay for gimmicks you nor not use
- their locos are not NMRA compliant
and most of all * Mike does not play fair in the sandbox* or he will sue.

Perhaps I missed the rumor, but on the Model Railroader newsletter they mentioned that MTH was doing an HO scale J.
I checked their website and they have some information and pictures in case anybody is interested. It would be nice to have
some different models although I understand the big 3 sell the best.
