N-Scale #611 - Bachmann

I bought the one released in the 1980s, to modify into a reasonably model later. This model had a horrendously small boiler, and rode a bit too high, and was kind of crude. (I was able to sell this loco on Ebay about 5 years ago and got some of that money back).

Having children starting in the mid 1980s put this on the "back-burner", which in a way was fortunate for me. Here's why:

After the turn of the century, Bachmann completely re-tooled this loco from the ground up. I have two of them and they are beautiful and very accurate models. They run nicely too.

Does anyone know what the "reliability" of "authenticity" of the Bachmann #611
N-scale is?

I'm just getting back into modelling and I've always heard "horror stories"
about N-scale steam.
