I looked around and I haven't fallen in love with one sound decoder. Also comes the problem of running wires between the loco and the tender. I might just stick with a non-sound decoder.

I have had Sunset M's and M1's running on a 4x8 with curves of at least 18" radius, possibly as low as 15" in some places. I never let one run for an extended period of time, maybe an hour at most, but I've had no derail issues.
