The ten cars of Class HC-1 were built by Roanoke Shops in 1937.  As far as I know these cars lasted into the mid-1960s and probably beyond.  Class HC-2 consisted of 50 cars, also built by Roanoke Shops and of nearly identical design and capacity.  The HC-2 cars lack the rivet strips between the vertical side bracing on the HC-1.
