I own one of the second run C&O versions of the 2-6-6-2 models. It runs extremely good for the price, I have had no problems with it and the wheels were in gauge. The arrangement for the articulation is not correct but this is a problem with almost all the non-brass articulated locomotives. The swing is not bad and mine had two cabs and two drawbar locations so the overhang could be adjusted. Overall it is a good locomotive for the price.

To my knowledge, the Overland is the only HO model that has been done with the correct domes.

IF we're talking the Rivarossi, they got the tender drawings from the Society. When I talked to the Rivarossi Hornby guy at the train show at the NMRA National, he told me that they did do the tender in accordance with the drawings, and did not change the domes. He said "they" thought that modelers could change the domes more easily than the tender. To my eye it--the tender--looked okay. I didn't break out scale rule and the drawings.
The Rivarossi C&O 2-6-6-6 runs well, I'm told. So each of us will have to decide a)if the wrong domes bother us, b)if the domes can be fixed (3D printing, resin, or??), c)if the rear engine swiveling bothers us, and d)what each of us is willing to trade off for the difference between a Riv at $4-500, a Key at $800-1,000, or the Ajin/Overland at $1,500-2,000. There's another brass one allegedly coming out soon (PSC?) for over $3K.

I'm curious as to whether or not the tender is correct.

Has
anyone received the HO Virginian AG that just was released?
Just curious
how the model runs.

Subject: Re: Athearn SD40's
I agree I would like a blue
one. I believe Athearn is sticking to the NS
end as the HO GP49's
arrived before the GP39X's. Both were announced at the
same time and
we know in the real world delivery was the other way around.
I will
follow on my schedule and build mine from a Kato.
