Gauge One America was owned by John Gummo and Fran DeVore. It started in 1984 when Aster Models of Japan convinced John to underwrite the cost of the PRR K4s project in 1:32 scale. The locomotives were produced as electric and butane fired live steam. Aster had a model of the PRR N6b cabin car produced to compliment the engine. John Gummo contracted with J&M Models (John Waggot) to produce brass and steel models of US heavyweight passenger cars including a combination baggage /coach, coach, diner, Pullman, and open end observation. He also had J&M produce single and double door box cars with a round roof. All were 40 foot. They are very crude models when compared to the Precision Scale PS-1 single door produces in 1986.

Road names I have seen (or own) include;
N&W, PRR w/ large keystone, ATSF w/ map herald, P&LE, Roscoe Snyder & Pacific, Spruce Falls Paper.

Gauge One America also imported the Aster. NYC Hudson in electric and live steam. J&M produced heavyweights lettered for NYC.

Ga One America was reorganized as Eastern Railways and imported some additional 1:32 freight cars in brass, mostly from Samhongsa.

The First 1:32 J was produced as an electric model by Samhongsa about 1991 and imported by Cincinnati Garden Railway Co. ( Tim Illiniski [sp?]) There were two versions, 600 and 611.

In 2016 Accucraft produced a live steam model in 1:32 of 611.

Fine Art Models (Gary Kohs) has also produced an electric model of the class A including the aux tank.

Hope this is useful.

Don't know how many cars were made or when, nor do I know if all were N&W. I do know there was a N&W locomotive. This was acquired at a York, PA auction about 10 years ago. The one car was out of an estate sale in PA. I called One Gauge of America but they were going though an ownership change and collapsed. Since One Gauge is in PA and they were having financial problems I think they just unloaded their inventory. I also contacted J&M in the U.K. via phone and email with no response. Recently I asked a friend living in the U.K. to do the research. J&M changed hands 2-3 years ago so there's probably no story to be had.
