Hi Jim,
Yes, the color is more black than green. The PRR called it “Dark Green Locomotive Enamel” (DGLE) or sometimes “Dark Green Locomotive Paint” (DGLP). I don’t know where the name “Brunswick Green” originated, but it almost certainly did not originate with the PRR, or al least that’s my understanding. Fresh and in the right light, it’s basically black with a greenish cast to it. Sometimes it weathered to a more greenish color, again in the right light. If you were to look at a PRR locomotive in DGLE next to say a black CR locomotive in good light, I think you’d able to see the difference.

I found this on-line; no description. Anyone got a suggestion based on limited background? I finally located an Athearn PRR 7203 but it’s in “Brunswick Green” or whatever PRR called it. Although weathered in photo, the body appears more on the black side than green.
