There has been some discussion about the P85br coaches lately. Seems there were 2 batches with ACF building some and Altoona Shops building the rest. The ACF cars had smooth sides free of wavyiness and wrinkles while the Altoona cars were wavy and wrinkled due to a different normalizing process and possibly the side material being stored on the ground and vehicles being driven over it!
Neat looking cars!

I don't remember about blue tainted windows, but yes, they had 44 seats and large lounges. Having ridden in one, I didn't find the seats any more comfortable than those on N&W coaches. I think they did have leg rests. They were designed for overnight passengers.

I'm a bit late on this topic but weren't the P85br coaches the ones that only had 44 seats, large lounges and blue tinted windows?

Pennsy P85br coaches  alternated with N&W P3 coaches between Norfolk and Chicago riding on trains 3 and 4.  Sometimes a Pennsy coach would show up on 21 and 22 between Richmond and Norfolk but not often. N&W coaches went as far a Harrisburg, Pa on trains 1 and 2 from Harrisburg to Hagerstown. To balance miles Pennsy coaches would be sent to Roanoke for use on trains 15 and 16 to run off the mileage imbalance.  Harold Davenport

In many videos and stills of N&W passenger trains there are frequently Pennsylvania RR P85 lightweight coaches in the consists. I can understand Pullman cars and baggage cars from different roads but why would a coach venture so far from the home road?
