According to the roster in Dow's "Coal Cars Of The Norfolk And
Western", the cars started being retired in large numbers beginning in
the 1960s, with nearly 300 retired between 1966 and 1967, and another
300 between 1968 and 1969, taking the total in service down to 22.
Four H4s lingered on until 1972.

I have read on modelling lists like the RealSTMFC groups.io list,
that the H4 hoppers lasted till 1972.
I wondered if that is correct or if members here know different.
