[412-public-news] Saturday is City Swim Championships. Pluse, City should SELL, not LONG-Term lease, those parking garages

Hi All,

I've been coaching swimming at PPS's Schenley High School -- and less
devoted to bugging my contacts with email updates. But here is some
news on two fronts.

At 11 am Saturday at Pitt's Tree's Hall (swim pool) is the City (Pgh
Public Schools) Swim Championships. Schenley, the team I've been
coaching, has a chance to win on the boys side -- making history. We
had a meet at our pool with Allderdice and tied. Then the next month,
just before the snow storm, we swam at Dice and won. Now for the
championships. Come out to cheer on our kids if you can. Erik is in
the medley (breast), 200, 500 and final free relay. The girls squad
has done a splendid job too.

In city political news, I just ranted about the plan to either lease
or transfer ownership of the Parking Authority assets to help with the
under-funded pension fund for government workers. Two plans came from
various political camps and my plan -- liquidate rather than lease --
is getting attention.
