I'm sorry, but I work for a big datacenter (petabytes) and we certainly
still deal with tape. It's LTO-4, so it's big, but it's still tape.
This is because you can't ship entire racks of SAN offsite for disaster
recovery, but a daily shipment of tapes is no problem.

I think you're correct in noting that the *small* shops don't do tape
any more. That's because removable hard drives, or syncing to an
offsite facility, is much cheaper. But it's not necessarily the fastest
or most convenient.
