Just doing some further research, you should be able to get code
running with the multi-mainframe/mini simulator SIMH -

It does the PDP-8, which is essentially the next step up from the
PDP-5 (12 bit machines that used the same instruction set - the 12 bit
PDP's were the 5, 8, and 12).
