[game_preservation] Kotaku: Videogame History Museum Kickstarter short on funds

Are they planning on attending PAX Central next weekend? Perhaps this is wishful thinking on my part, but if they had a table set up to do a "Pocket Change Campaign", and collect whatever change they could from attendees, then that would be promising. Nearly 70,000 attended PAX East in Boston. If Gabe or Tycho could plug the Videogame History Museum, then people could file out of the hall and give what pocket change they had. Once again, wishful thinking on my part, but just an idea for this PAX or the next PAX East if Kickstarter doesn't work out.

Following up on this earlier report, the Videogame History Museum project begun by Digital Press is not meeting its goal of $30k. Is this something that the Game Preservation SIG should be involved in with trying to promote? It's not like they've contacted the list or anything about this...

Right now they're just trying to get a space so they can get started, other projects would follow. I don't know what their ultimate ambitions are, but I do know that these guys are big champions of digital preservation and of providing a place to conduct research. They once helped Activision out with one of its compilation packs by providing assets and data, and they'd like to start doing more of that sort of work. They also want to host events and talks like CGE.
