[game_preservation] Internet Archive Starts Archiving Commercial PC Games?

The Internet Archive has been archiving numerous demo and magazine 
CD-ROMs for a little while now. A month ago, they also launched the 
Historical Software Archive which curates a selection of old software 
deemed historically important.

However, today I found the "IBM PC Compatible CD-ROMs" area, which is a 
subsection of the Shareware CD Archive:

Material includes all the Ultima games, System Shock, Syndicate, Sim 
City, Space Hulk, X-Com, Dark Forces, Myst, 11th Hour, X-Wing, Tie 
Fighter... the list goes on and on.

All of these seem to have a release date of today (December 7). So maybe 
they're planning a big announcement.
