Decided to forward this here off of Gamesnetwork since it has a direct
relationship with game preservation.

I would imagine few of you are regular readers of Library Quarterly, so I
wanted to direct you to a new gaming-related article that I just had
published there.

Before I started my explorations in game studies and meaningful
gamification, I was in library and information science. From 2007-2011, I
focused on how libraries used recreational games as a service, and traced
the history of gaming in libraries in the US back to the 1850s.

If you'd like to see how libraries have supported gaming over the years,
you can read this article at

Nicholson, S. (2013). Playing in the Past: A History of Games, Toys and
Puzzles in North American Libraries. Library Quarterly 83(4), 341-361.
