Hi all,

Last Sunday I went to the Newport Folk Festival with my dad, which was followed (on the drive home) by a discussion of what folk music even is in 2019. Is there a significant oral tradition of music that isn’t affected by easy access to youtube and lyrics websites? I guess that, if there is, by definition I won’t be able to find it by googling it.

That question aside, I’ve got a couple of shows coming up this month:

Wednesday August 14 - SONGWRITERS IN THE ROUND
-------------------
WHEN: 7-8:30 pm
WHERE: AS220, 115 Empire Street, Providence, RI
COVER: $5

I'll be sharing the stage with Sean Ryder, Ted Staples, and Autumn DeSantis. We'll each perform three songs, one of which has to be on a theme picked by the previous month's audience. This month's theme is 'MISEDUCATION’.

Saturday August 17 - TOO TIGHT JUG BAND / 2ND ANNUAL LAKESIDE CELEBRATION
------------------
WHEN: 2 pm-late
WHERE: Holland, MA

Dick and Chris Haller host this lakeside party in Holland, MA, which will feature music by the Too Tight Jug Band, the K.C. Moaners, and others, plus lake activities and barbecue!

Last year this was well-attended and it seemed that everyone had a great time, despite near-constant rain, so I’m really looking forward to this year’s! (Which hopefully will not include the rain.)

See you around,
Jacob Haller
