[JakeShows] Kickstarter update: Almost halfway there!

Hey all,

Thanks to everyone who has already pledged to the Kickstarter campaign to help fund my next album. Thanks to you, in the first week, I've raised $816, almost half of my goal. When I reach $900, I'll set some stretch goals, so if I exceed my goal I can make the project better for everyone who pledges to it!

I’m excited to get back to the studio with of my favorite local musicians!  Right now, it’s looking like I’ll be joined by trombonist Pam Murray, pianist Keith Munslow, bassist Marty Ballou, drummer John Cote, pedal steel player Chris Brooks, and guitarist Natalie Markward; and to make studio recordings for the first time with guitarist Tom Ferraro, jug and guitar player Dick Haller, singer Lauren Monroe, harmonica great Chris Turner, and fiddler Ilana Katz Katz, among others.


As long as I’m writing to you, I thought I’d talk a little about some of the songs I plan to record with the electric band:

'The DMV of Broken Dreams' is a song I debuted at the Empire Revue variety show in Providence, and that performance is online at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bdoj8u7JcdU&t=1m55s . The studio recording will feature many of the same musicians!

'Poor, Innocent Boy' is probably my angriest song, and is a reaction to various #MeToo incidents, both nationally and locally. Hopefully it's cathartic? A solo guitar demo is at https://soundcloud.com/jacob-haller/newer-not-better .

'Do Not Disturb' is a lullaby for people who can't put down their phones when they go to bed. I've got a demo at https://soundcloud.com/jacob-haller/relax and am looking forward to adding more texture to it.

I wrote 'Totally Awkward' after seeing Erin McKeown talk to a bunch of people after a show with total charm and grace. #lifegoals Here's a piano demo of it: https://soundcloud.com/jacob-haller/socially-awkward It'll be great to get a full band studio version!
