Sorry, let me rephrase:

The definition of the word "day" (in whatever language in whatever country throughout history and into the distant future) for the great preponderance of human usages is "synodic day". Pretending otherwise is not only insipid, it will ultimately cause more problems than the blinkered ITU decision-making-process speculates (with embarrassingly little evidence) that it might solve.
