What will Janet Echelman's work "1.26" mean...


...in a world where we're co-opted to pretend that each day is equal to a round and invariant 86,400 SI-seconds?

In her TED talk:


Echelman describes working with engineers to make this medium work for civic installations. Should the artist have instead sought to pretend that the tensile requirements of her fiber artworks were "nice round numbers"?
