And what exactly is wrong with that?

I can also make the following Markdown document:

     Here is some inline (X)HTML:

     <div id="123 < 45 -- that’s invalid">
         some text
     </div>

Is Markdown also going to take care of that for me, using various  
heuristics to try and turn this into a valid ID? ;)
