I've found a footnote-related bug. Take this example:

# Document Title

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit. Etiam
ultricies enim id diam. Nullam nec turpis. Praesent enim nibh, posuere
id, vestibulum quis, eleifend eget, erat. Sed tincidunt massa. Phasellus
non odio. Nullam gravida euismod libero. Maecenas quis lectus.
Vestibulum vitae enim. Donec non massa. Nullam faucibus.[^1]

[^1]: This is the first footnote.

## Subheading

Donec porta felis sit amet dui. Sed id mauris aliquam dui vulputate
vulputate.[^2] Ut ac nunc consequat enim iaculis hendrerit.[^3] Nullam
at tellus non purus vehicula vehicula. Etiam dapibus nunc nec dolor.

[^2]: Footnote two.
[^3]: And number three.

And here's how it renders, with the subheading showing up in the
footnotes section at the end:

Document Title

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit. Etiam
ultricies enim id diam. Nullam nec turpis. Praesent enim nibh, posuere
id, vestibulum quis, eleifend eget, erat. Sed tincidunt massa. Phasellus
non odio. Nullam gravida euismod libero. Maecenas quis lectus.
Vestibulum vitae enim. Donec non massa. Nullam faucibus.<sup

Donec porta felis sit amet dui. Sed id mauris aliquam dui vulputate
vulputate.2
Ut ac nunc consequat enim iaculis hendrerit.3 Nullam at tellus non purus
vehicula vehicula. Etiam dapibus nunc nec dolor.

This is the first footnote.

Subheading

↩

And number three. ↩
