How often do you use inline images? <p> wrapper is really useful?

I should add to my point that the primary reason I use Markdown is for writing prose that will be converted into EPUB or XML.

Back before EPUB became a thing, I used XML/XSLT to massage it into PDF/RTF for submission. These days, it's about EPUB for publication, mostly (though I still use the other for some pieces).
