For the collectors among us.

The Princeton - Mercer (West Virginia) County Chamber of Commerce has produced a Christmas tree ornament each year, and several of them have featured the Virginian Railway or a local trolley.

At last report the following were available at $15.00 plus $2.50 P & H:

    YEAR
        1993 Virginian (Princeton) Passenger Station
1997 Virginian Coal Hopper (No. 23728)
        2001 Trolley (Princeton)
        2004 Virginian Locomotive No. 4

These are attractive gold-tone metal ornaments in two planes. In addition, the station has white sides and a green roof, and the two planes give it a bit of a 3-D effect. The historical accuracy leaves a lot to be desired; for instance, what is identified as a Princeton trolley clearly shows "Appalachian Power Co." on the letterboard, which makes it a Bluefield trolley instead of a Princeton one. Likewise, Virginian Locomotive No. 4 is depicted as a 2-8-0, whereas No. 4 was a Class SA 0-8-0. Nevertheless, the ornaments are attractive, and should appeal to Virginian fans.

Ordering address is:

PMCCC
910 Oakvale Road
Princeton, WV 24740

PS. The Washington County, VA, Chamber of Commerce has put out similar Christmas ornaments of (2001) Virginia Creeper Engine No. 433 and (2002) the Abingdon Train Station, but I have no current information on the availability of these.
