December 13, 2004

Hello, all:

The 2005 classic calendar is very nice. I am
wondering, though, if the December 2005 caption for
Glasgow, VA, is accurate. The upper signal is the
three-aspect train order signal. The lower signal is
the block signal, which is shown in normal position as
stop. It was only cleared when the dispatcher
authorized a train into a block and the operator at
the next station beyond had its block signal as stop.
Correct?

Does the N&W archives have blueprints for the block
and train order signals? The signal drawings book
available from the Commissary only shows the color
light style, not the earlier version with blades.

Happy holidays, all!
