MessageExcellent question.  I have often wondered that myself.  There are some modern day photographers who have scared the daylights out of train crews who had no previous warning of the flashbulbs.

  After looking over Mr. Links photos again, the thought comes to mind...Did the engine crews know that they were going to get hit by all those flash bulbs or was it a surprise? Obviously the people in the foreground knew that they were posing for him. But had the crew of the passing train been warned what to expect?
