Featured in the John Piper - The Forties exhibition at
the Imperial War Museum London (2000 - 2001) - is this
pen and ink, pastels, gouache, watercolor, graphite
stick, picture entitled 'American locomotives awaiting
transhipment on the foreshore at Cardiff' by this
British war time artist.

I have a postcard of the picture from the exhibition,
but don't believe Piper had any particular interest in
rail related subjects.

A rendition is at
http://www.johnpiper.org.uk/american-locomotives-cardiff-1944.htm.
Neither this nor the postcard adequately reflect the
picture.

Any other examples of USATC captured in finer art
around?

Dominic
