Fires Cleaned at Vicker?

Cleaning fires at Vicker was probably de rigueur at Vicker in the olden days, but remember - in the late 1920s they had the K's going from Roanoke to Williamson without change. And later than that, everything was capable of going from end to end without stopping.

So unless somebody had really bad coal, I'd say it was a rare thing after about 1930 to clean a fire at Vicker.

My memory just kicked in. The coal wharf was at Walton before it was moved to Vicker, circa 1909 (?) Guess I overdosed on grandfathering today.

But I'd still like to know if the cleaning of fires was de rigueur at Vicker.
