Whistles

When I was young and nothing but steam went up and down the Scioto Valley
and the only Diesels we heard were on the B&O's National Limited, the high
pitched whistles from an A or a Y were rare but occurred every now and then.
I used to love to hear them and assumed they were caused by unusually high
steam pressure or an enthusiastic engineer.
