John: If one used the mileage (actual or mile post) and the track speed
limits as expressed on the track charts

.

I know from observation NS 218 UPS TOFC takes about 1 ½ to two hours to get
from Portsmouth down to Williamson today delays and all. It took just over
two hours to get from Clare yard to Portsmouth over the Peavine with a 45
mph max speed limit and a 25 mph slow order between Mt. Oreb and Sardinia.
It would meet any trains except maybe the L51 local that would be holed
somewhere for the 218. Clare to Portsmouth is 101 miles ( MP C9 to MPC110)
and the train usually ran 2:15.

Subject: Intermodal on the old N&W

All,

I am doing some research for my masters of transportation degree.

Does anyone know or know someone who knows or where to find the average time
it takes a current standard NS Intermodal train to run less stops in sidings
(running time) between these points on the old N&W:

1. Northbound, Williamson, WV - Portsmouth, OH
2. Northbound, Portsmouth, OH - Columbus, OH
3. Eastbound, Williamson, WV - Farm, WV
4. Eastbound, Farm, WV - Bluefield, WV

Thanks in advance
