RAILROAD NOTES.

The Iager and Southern branch of the Norfolk and Western has been
completed from Ritter, W. Va., to the mouth of Canebrake creek, in
McDowell county, 24.53 miles, and other extensions have been built
during the past year as follows: Speedwell extension, from Cripple
Creek to Speedwell, Va., 5.28 miles; Big Creek branch, extended above
Richlands, Va., to coal mines in Tazewell county, a distance of 1.18
miles; Clear Fork branch, extended above Coalwood, W. Va., to coal
mines in McDowell county, a distance of 1.27 miles; Blackstone and
Lunenburg railroad, from Blackstone to Dillard, Lununburg county,
Va., a distance of 5.53 miles; Coal Creek branch, extended to reach
coal mines in Tazewell county, Va., a distance of .29 miles; Lick
fork branch, extended to coal operations in Mingo county, W. Va., a
distance of 2.79 miles. C.S. Churchill, chief engineer, Roanoke, Va.
This company is constructing a second track from Valley Crossing
to a point in its Joyce avenue yards, near Joyce avenue, Columbus,
O., a distance of about ten miles. It is also enlarging its Joyce avenue yards.


Low Rates for Jamestown Exposition
The Jamestown Exposition passenger bureau at its meeting at
Norfolk, decided to recommend to the various passenger associations
that the same rates be made to the Jamestown Exposition as were made
to the Louisiana Purchase Exposition at St. Louis.
