N&W To Use Its Own Tracks

Will Build Track Into Richmond and Stop Paying Other Roads Toll.

Richmond, Va., Feb. 4, --Special-- The Norfolk & Western rails are to
be laid into the great union freight and passenger station and yards
which are to be built in the valley where the Chesapeake & Ohio
passenger station now stands. This statement is made on the highest authority.

Details are not available at present, because neither the local
representatives of the company nor the general officials will talk
for publication at this time, but enough is known so that it can be
ascertained as a fact that the figuring has been done and plans have
been made for the Norfolk & Western to enter Richmond on its own rails.

Enormous increase in the business of the company year after year is
shown in the figures upon which this is based. Millions of pounds of
Norfolk & Western freight and thousands of cars from its lines are
now hauled into Richmond annually by the Atlantic Coast Line, the
Seaboard Air Line and the Southern Railways, to which the Norfolk &
Western has to pay toll for the transportation.
