It was orignally the Virginian-Wyoming Railway Company... chartered Dec, 1919, had built 14.25 miles from a connection with the VGN at Maben to a point on the Laurel Fork of the Guyandot River. Polks gap Tunnel was to be constructed...

The Virginian leased it on 05/20/1920 for 99 years.

Name changed in 1921 to Virginia & Western Railway Company (to take effect 01/1922) and orginal lease terminated, changed to a 999-year lease.

3.22 mile extension built in 1922 from Milam, WV

Polks Gap tunnel concrete lined in 1928.

V&W authorized to build 41-mile extension from Itman, WV to Gilbert, WV

Guyandot River line of the Virginian & Western completed in 1933, along with the completion of the VGN lease.

In 1936, VGN merged the V&W trackage and real estate... 14.44 mles from Virwest to Glen Rogers, WV , 3.22 miles from Milam to Morri, WV, and the 41.62 miles from Itman to Gilbert, WV.



After it was merged, any branches built would have been by the VGN...
