The Norfolk and Western Railway is laying a pipe line from the city to Graham. It is intended to establish a pumping station below the Mitchell Ice Company's plant at Graham and pump water from the Bluestone River to this city for the use of the engines and shops here.

[Shows the length the railroad had to go to in some cases to have an adequate water supply. Bluefield and Graham -- now Bluefield, VA -- were some 3 miles apart.]
