Now that all the ICC Reports are so easily available on the 'web, this would be an excellent thing to do for all the N&W incidents which made it to the attention of the ICC.? The number of ICC Reports on N&W incidents is rather small, and the ICC ceased listing employee names in the 1950s, so the project is of manageable scope.

?

I'm still working, so some retiree with lots of time on his hands (Aitsch... J.B.B. ... ???) needs to step up to the plate for this one.

What're you going to do Abie, conduct a postmortem investigation? ?
The ICC quite nameing names in 1941.? The NTSB resurrected the
practice AND gave a bio of employees involved.? Now how about 
those reports issued by the Locomotive Inspection Bureau ?? For the
most part, these deal with mechanical failures, but the wreck of 2082
at Maybeury, WV was investigated?under the Locomotive Inspection
Act.? The investigations conducted under the Locomotive Inspection
Act have no report number, so it's hard to know if you got'em all.
Most deal with boiler explosions (VGN 800 at Stewartsville for one)
and crown sheet failures.? On Nov. 4, 1948, the ICC issued a report
covering a flue failure on Eng 2134 at Singer (Oct. 3, 1948).? The fireman
was injured when he fell from the gangway onto the "rocky road bed
between the eastbound and westbound main tracks." Big deal.? He'd
probably played poker at the Matz Hotel in Bluefield and went to 
sleep on the way back to Roanoke.
