Tidying my study I came across an extract from The Railwy Gazette fo September 20th 1946. In it was part 5 of a list of 'Named trains in the USA' There was an entry of a N & W freight train as 'NOMAD' running from Norfolk to Columbus. A few questions come to mind:-
1) Was it a daily schedule?
2) What was the timing of the train, and did the name apply to any return working?
3) Over what period did the train run?
4) Was it a success
5) Did the N & W have any other named goods trains, and if so on what routes?

Thanks for the antici[ated responses!
