LANDSLIDES CLEARED

Reports From N. & W. Offices Say That All Tracks Are Clear

Report received at the Norfolk & Western headquarters here
indicate that troubles occasioned by the numerous landslides in the
Pocahontas coal field are now things of the past. Both passenger
trains and freights are now running through without any very serious delay.
The rains, which caused the trouble, came to an end on Thursday,
and it is reported that the weather is favorable throughout the territory.
No new landslides have been reported.
A washout west of Naugatuck was the last slide that caused delay.
The work of clearing away the rock and earth from the tracks in the
dozens of places in the coal fields where slides occurred has been
pushed along rapidly by the regular section hands and hundreds of
emergency laborers.
