Crosstie Lane in Parrott

Hello all.

As told to me by my favorite uncle, Arnold Scott, who worked at Williamson briefly after WW II, there was "a helluva bridge" across the creek bottom at Back Creek which tied "Crosstie Lane" to Belspring Road. Wish I had some photos of it. Uncle Arnold was the son of the man who named the Arrow, so all things N&W were a main interest of his all his life.

And the mines at Parrott fed the coal down the mountainside to a tipple located just where the 1949 photo of the Arrow's tavern/lounge car is featured alongside the river. Said photo was used in one postcard where the caption mistakenly says "near Narrows". It's actually at "the ferry" (originally run by the Albert family) between Parrott and Dry Branch.

Am following with great interest all the posts by all the real authorities here. All I know much about is what went on near where I grew up in Dry Branch.

Vince Albert.
