TWO MORE CONTRACTS
------
Norfolk & Western Gets Mail for Mississippi and Points in Southwest
------
Roanoke Times: The announcement that the big amount of mail for Mississippi and other points in the far south and southwest, which has in the past been hauled by the Southern Railway, will in future be handled by the Norfolk & Western, has been received here with much gratification by all who want to see the Norfolk & Western prosper, and of course, that means everybody in Roanoke.
This mail, it was explained this morning, will be handled by trains No. 41 and 42, which pass through Roanoke, No. 42 about midnight and No. 41 early in the morning. These trains are known as the Washington and Chattanooga Limited, and they have been running for several years.
This change by the post office department, it is said, is due to the fact that the Southern Railway has eliminated recently several of its fast through trains, and the department found that it could handle this mail to better advantage over the Norfolk & Western than over the Southern.
