Joe,
I wasn't questioning you on the clearance issue.  I apologize if I sounded like I was.  I did not know if clearance was an issue or not.  But, I did know that we were not supposed to go out on that bridge because it was not safe for pedestrian use anymore.

Now that our intrepid signalmen have questioned my statement that the
Allen St overpass was a victim of the Heartland Corridor improvements,
I went back and checked the original Mashall Univeristy study and it
turns out that it was NOT a clearance restriction.

I had remembered there there was a bridge issue in Bluefield, and a
clearnace problem near Allen St. But the bridge issue is with the
Belcher St. overpass - the easternmost of the two 'through truss'
vehicle bridges over the yard. The clearance issue near Allen St.
is (was?) overhead wires.

Also of potential interest to the group, the Lin Electric Co. building
(with its signature "We do it right" sign) just west of the US 52
overpass have also been demolished.
