Columbus District single-tracking

Although the Columbus District single-tracking created two bottlenecks in an
otherwise high-capacity double track district, the single-tracking of the
segment rhough Chillicothe did have some marginal benefits. It eliminated
several diamonds at the crossings of the B&O at both Renick and Chillicothe.
It also eliminated the maintenance of one track over the Scioto River
bridge, The sharp reverse curve west (compass north) of the B&O crossing in
Chllicothe was eased somewhat, and the previous speed limit of 20 MPH over
the crossings at both Renick and Chillicothe was raised to 35 MPH, thus
helping westbound trains get a run for Kingston Hill.
