ELECTRIC LINE FROM RICH CREEK TO RONCEVERTE
------
Will Connect Virginian With Chesapeake and Ohio and Traverse Rich Farming Country

A project is on foot to build an electric railway from Ronceverte to Rich Creek. In case this plan materializes the Virginian and Chesapeake and Ohio railways will be connected and a large and prosperous farming community given transportation facilities. The route proposed will put this road through Peterstown, Sweet Springs and Union. Isaac T. Mann [of Itmann, WV, fame] is said to be closely identified with the people who are backing the enterprise. His cousin, B. F. Mann, of Fort Spring, has bought land on Second Creek, in Monroe county, at a point where the fall of the stream is sufficient to insure power enough to supply the wires of the new road. It is understood that three large dams will be built on this creek and as many power plants installed.
------
[This is another example of the many electric railways promoted, but never built. There was, however, a little-known electric railway between Ronceverte and Lewisburg, WV that interchanged with the C&O at Ronceverte. See the attached picture. For those interested in town names, Ronceverte is in Greenbrier County, WV, and Ronceverte is French for Greenbrier.]
