help with names

Thanks-you are very correct about the N&S.  This occurs because I am a lazy
typist.  I see far to many Norfolk and Southern engines go by my house to
forget it.  I am very used to the DL&W, LV, NYC,  PRR. PC CRRJ etc. I am
from New Jersey and only getting 

 to know the railroads in the area of East Tennessee..  The one I really
enjoy is the East Tennessee and North Carolina.  Very interesting RR.  Also
the Clinchfield.

Correct on Pittsburgh & West Virginia

ACY = Akron, Canton and Youngstown

W&LE = Wheeling and Lake Erie

 

Hmmmm.....your "now N&S" remark bears commenting....Norfolk and Southern -
"N&S" - was the original name of the OLD Norfolk Southern, the Norfolk to
Charlotte via Elizabeth City etc line that eventually got absorbed into the
Southern and whose whole name was "borrowed" for today's "big" Norfolk
Southern.  To the best of my knowledge, today's Norfolk Southern is NEVER
referred to as "N&S."

 

But you knew that, of course.....
