PIONEER CONDUCTOR
------
Captain George W. Thomas, of Salem, was a visitor to the city yesterday. Captain Thomas was the first conductor to go through the Elkhorn tunnel and he helped to build the present Pocahontas division, being a foreman in charge of workmen. He is here on a visit to his daughter.
------
[I remember when it was common to address passenger train conductors as "Captain."]
